Kitchen Interior Design Dubai
Kat Black Design Studio designs and installs bespoke luxury kitchens for villas and apartments across Dubai with our kitchen interior design services, specifying Italian kitchen systems from Poliform, Boffi and Poggenpohl, premium surface materials including Cosentino Dekton, Arabescato marble and Calacatta Gold, and appliance suites from Sub-Zero and Wolf for residential clients who want a kitchen that performs at a level consistent with the quality of the rest of their home. Kitchen design in Dubai requires specific knowledge of the UAE’s climate conditions, the cooking styles of the studio’s international and GCC client base, and the structural constraints of kitchen modifications in existing buildings. This page covers the studio’s kitchen design services, material specifications, the Italian kitchen systems the studio partners with, and the design principles that produce exceptional kitchen interiors in Dubai.
Kitchen Design Styles
01.
Contemporary Handleless
The most requested kitchen design style in Dubai’s luxury villa and premium apartment market. Handleless cabinet fronts in lacquered finish or timber veneer, combined with integrated appliances, a large-format island and a continuous worktop surface in natural stone or Dekton, produce a kitchen that is visually uncluttered, easy to clean and consistent with the contemporary luxury aesthetic that dominates Dubai’s high-end residential market. This style works particularly well in open-plan kitchen configurations in Dubai Hills Estate villas where the kitchen is visible from the living and dining areas and visual coherence across the open plan is a primary brief criterion.
02.
Classic Shaker
A kitchen style more commonly requested by European expatriate clients who want a kitchen that feels established and familiar rather than contemporary and minimal. Shaker-profile doors in a painted or lacquered finish, combined with natural stone worktops and traditional hardware in brushed brass or nickel, produce a kitchen with a timeless quality that many clients prefer to the harder-edged contemporary alternative. Poliform’s Varenna range and Boffi’s System kitchen provide Shaker-adjacent door profiles at the quality level appropriate for luxury villa applications.
03.
Industrial and Raw
An increasing request in Dubai’s design-aware professional client base, particularly in DIFC and Downtown Dubai apartments. Exposed concrete-effect surfaces, matt black hardware, open shelving in place of upper cabinets, and Cosentino Dekton worktops in dark industrial colourways produce a kitchen with a raw, creative energy that is distinct from the polished luxury of the more traditional Dubai villa kitchen. This style requires careful material selection for Dubai’s climate, as concrete-effect finishes must be correctly sealed to resist the humidity conditions of a busy kitchen environment.

Our Expertise
Italian Kitchen Interior Design
Kat Black Design Studio specifies and installs Italian kitchen interior design systems from three primary manufacturers for luxury villa and premium apartment applications in Dubai.
Poliform Varenna
Poliform’s Varenna kitchen range is the studio’s primary specification for luxury villa kitchens requiring a contemporary handleless or minimal-profile aesthetic. The Varenna system is engineered to tolerances and finish standards that distinguish it from the volume of kitchen brands that describe themselves as luxury. Cabinet carcasses are manufactured in moisture-resistant board to UAE humidity standards. Lacquered door fronts are produced in over 200 colours with the option of a high-gloss or matt finish. Internal fittings, drawer runners and hardware are Blum-supplied at the highest specification level available. The Varenna system also provides integrated appliance housing units, pantry columns and island systems that create a kitchen of genuine architectural quality.
Boffi
Boffi is Kat Black Design Studio’s specification for clients who want a kitchen that makes a stronger architectural statement and that references Italian design culture at its most considered. Boffi kitchens are designed by some of Europe’s most prominent architects and designers, and the resulting products have a design coherence and material quality that reflects this provenance. The Boffi System kitchen in particular, with its minimal continuous unit profile and invisible joinery, is one of the most sophisticated contemporary kitchen systems available in the Dubai market.
Poggenpohl
Poggenpohl is specified for clients who require a comprehensive range of configuration options, including very large island formats and complex multi-zone kitchen layouts, where the breadth of the system’s module library provides more flexibility than the more tightly edited Poliform and Boffi ranges. Poggenpohl’s +MODO system and its FORM kitchen range are the most commonly specified in Dubai villa applications.
Worktops
Cosentino Dekton is the most technically capable worktop surface available in the Dubai market, with heat resistance above 300 degrees Celsius, zero porosity (stain and liquid resistance without sealing), UV stability for kitchens with external glazing, and a scratch resistance that is significantly higher than natural stone. Cosentino Silestone is the alternative for clients who want a manufactured surface at a lower price point than Dekton with similar stain resistance. Natural marble and stone worktops are specified where the aesthetic requires the veining and organic quality of natural material, with the understanding that they require sealing and more careful maintenance than engineered surfaces.
Cabinet Finishes
Lacquered cabinet finishes in the Poliform, Boffi and Poggenpohl systems are manufactured to UAE humidity tolerances with moisture-resistant substrates and sealed edges as standard. Matt lacquered finishes are specified more frequently than high-gloss in current Dubai kitchen commissions, as they are more forgiving of fingerprints and surface marks in daily use. Timber veneer door fronts, in oak, walnut or fumed ash, provide a natural warmth that is a strong design contrast to stone worktops and are specified in UV-stabilised finishes for kitchens with significant direct solar exposure.
Appliances
Sub-Zero refrigeration and Wolf cooking appliances are the studio’s primary appliance specifications for luxury villa kitchens. Sub-Zero’s integrated column refrigerators and wine storage units are specified within the Poliform or Boffi system, with custom panel fronts matching the kitchen cabinet doors. Wolf’s induction and gas cooking suites, with integrated ventilation, provide the cooking performance required for a kitchen that is regularly used for serious cooking rather than only for light domestic use.

Design
Island Kitchens
The kitchen island is the functional and visual centrepiece of the open-plan kitchen interior design that dominates Dubai’s luxury villa market. A well-designed island resolves multiple brief requirements simultaneously: additional worktop preparation space, integrated appliances (hob, sink, wine refrigerator), informal dining and social seating for 4 to 6 people, and a visual statement that anchors the kitchen within the open-plan living and dining area.
Kat Black Design Studio designs kitchen islands at the scale appropriate to the villa’s kitchen floor area. For large Mayfair and Sidra villa kitchens with floor areas above 25 square metres, islands of 3.5 to 4.5 metres in length are proportionate and provide the worktop and seating capacity that generous-scale entertaining requires. For smaller townhouse and apartment kitchens, islands of 2 to 2.5 metres are more appropriate and ensure that the circulation routes around the island remain comfortable.
Island worktop materials are typically specified in a different material from the perimeter worktops to create visual contrast and to emphasise the island as the kitchen’s focal element. Natural stone, including Arabescato marble, Calacatta Gold and bookmatched travertine, is the most frequently specified island worktop material in luxury villa kitchens. Cosentino Dekton in a large-format panel, continuous across the full island length without visible joins, is specified where the client requires the heat resistance and stain resistance of an engineered surface alongside the visual quality of a high-end material.
Completed kitchen projects in the Kat Black Design Studio portfolio include a Poliform Varenna kitchen in a Sidra villa (Dubai Hills Estate) with a 4.2 metre Arabescato marble island, Sub-Zero integrated refrigeration and Wolf induction cooking, handleless white lacquered cabinetry and a Lutron-controlled lighting scheme; a Boffi System kitchen in a Downtown Dubai penthouse with a Calacatta Gold worktop, a continuous integrated unit without any visible hardware and a fully integrated Gaggenau appliance suite; and an outdoor kitchen extension for a Maple villa in Dubai Hills Estate with Cosentino Dekton worktops, a Wolf outdoor grill and a louvered pergola providing shade year-round.

Open Plan Kitchen Interior Design
The open-plan kitchen interior design is the dominant configuration in Dubai villa design and the arrangement that most directly challenges the kitchen designer to resolve the kitchen’s functional requirements within a space that is also a living room, a dining room and, in many Dubai villas, the primary family gathering space of the home. The kitchen in this context must be visually resolved and aesthetically coherent when viewed from the living and dining areas, whilst functioning efficiently as a working kitchen when in use.
Kat Black Design Studio resolves the open-plan kitchen challenge through material palette continuity (kitchen cabinetry in a colour and finish that relates to the living and dining furniture and floor materials), visual screening (an island or peninsula that defines the kitchen zone without creating a physical barrier to the open plan), appliance concealment (integrated appliances behind panel fronts, concealed extractor systems and refrigerators flush with the cabinet line), and a ventilation strategy that extracts cooking odours effectively without a visible overhead extractor hood dominating the sightline from the living area.
For Dubai Hills Estate villa clients who entertain outdoors regularly, Kat Black Design Studio also designs covered outdoor kitchen extensions connected to the main kitchen, specifying Cosentino Dekton worktops for UV and heat resistance, stainless steel barbecue and cooking appliances, a wine refrigerator and a sink, all within a pergola or louvered covered structure that makes outdoor cooking comfortable year-round.
